Workshops will be offered to MUN-Directors at THIMUN 2026. These workshops will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, at 10:00 AM
The workshops are free of charge and are open to a maximum of 60 participants. You may register for either one or both sessions by sending an email to info@thimun.org indicating which workshops you will attend, so we can reserve your spot. Registration is also possible at the information booth located in the lobby of the World Forum.

WORKSHOP 1 –
Using history to teach power, limits, and ensure meaningful debate in MUN
Presented by: Dr. Walter Peterson
When: Wednesday 28th January 10am
Workshop Overview: This two-hour workshop explores how a commission can be used to teach complexity, power, and constraint in Model United Nations. Participants will review key elements of parliamentary procedure and rules, examine scaffolding strategies that support inclusive participation, and take part in a guided historical simulation on the destruction of the Bamiyan Buddhas (2001). The session is suitable for both less experienced and experienced MUN teachers seeking to deepen the educational impact of their simulations.

AI & MUN: Opportunities, Risks, and Responsibility

Workshop Overview: This workshop provides a collaborative space for MUN educators to explore how Artificial Intelligence is already shaping student preparation and performance. The session invites open discussion around the opportunities AI offers, such as improved research, accessibility, and support for diverse learners, alongside the ethical and practical challenges it raises.
